The snow lasted through the morning & then it melted even faster than it had piled up. So, we're back to windy & cold & no snow.
The demo is just about demolished. Jeff was delayed some because he couldn't find the water shutoff, and when he DID finally dig it up (literally - it was buried), it was broken off. So... more issues to fix. But, now he's finally got everything shut off & is hoping to finish the demo (mostly) this evening. They still about 1000 nails to pull, but otherwise are done.
We did find cool planks under the several layers of old laminate, etc. But, not sure if there's any insulation under those boards. If there IS, we're going to try & get approval to just sand & finish that floor rather than cover it up again. If not, guess we're going back to laminate.
It was a good news / bad news day. First - good news - Tyler is coming back to work on the 1st (which leads to the other good news that I'll share below). Bad news - we don't know for how long. His dad is still on his death bed and Tyler's not sure how long he can stay. So, we need to try & figure out how to deal w/ that.
Second good news - the good news from Tyler means we can plan on being out for our 4 days as we hoped. We'll fly out the morning of the 3rd (weather permitting, of course) and stay in Boise overnight for the meeting. Then, will drive to Richland the afternoon of the 4th... so... all we need now is somewhere to stay ... (hint, hint).
The other good news / bad news - the mechanic working on our truck is done and even did the job for less than we thought. The BAD news is that when he went to drain the oil, he found 5 GALLONS of oil & coolant in the drain pan. So... how'd it get there? We are hoping and praying it was a blown head gasket & NOT a cracked block. We're waiting to hear on that latest development.
