Sooo.... What's up?
I received a message today indicating that my blog needed attention. :) I know, I've been eerily (and uncharacteristically) quiet this winter. But, I haven't been totally ignoring my writing responsibility. Facebook, of course, keeps me thinking each day - especially as I have to come up with something for the ranch page most days. But, more importantly, I've been working on typing up some of my snippets (and some nearly whole) stories that I've jotted down over the years, in preparation for publishing ... something... this fall. So, as a way to fulfill my blog expectations, here's a little piece of something that I wrote ... sometime. Hope you enjoy.
"I’ve heard it said that the wilderness is quiet. And, I suppose compared to our “modern” lives, it is quiet. The myriad of noises that seem to accompany people are absent here. However, anyone who has spent time away from those urban trappings knows that often the forest can be a raucous and busy place. The drone, buzz and whine of many insects; the distant murmur of water over rocks; the ceaseless sigh, moan or shriek of the wind; the crack and creak of trees; and the chattering of various small mammals all work together to create a constant, but relaxing, symphony of sound.
Underlying that wild music, is my favorite whisper of all – the echoes of trails long forgotten. It is that whisper of the unknown that calls to me; the lure of seeing what’s around the next bend, over the next ridge, down the next valley. And most riveting of all – the mystery of old footsteps, adventures never told and quests unfulfilled."

I LOVE my life!
We went skiing last night (as we do a lot of nights) and as we were on our way back, I realized that I LOVE my life. I live in this beautiful country, where I see fantastic vista's out my front window. Wildlife wanders by on a daily basis. It's quiet and pristine. I can walk out my front door and go riding for days, skiing any direction, fishing, hiking.. whatever I want. One of our country's most favorite National Parks is out my back door.
And, not only is my location awesome - so is my family. I have a husband I'm as crazy about as I was the day we married. I have great kids who have turned into mature, loving adults. I have a family (siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, etc), that - while we may not always agree - DO always support and love each other, no matter what. At home, we laugh and play music and cribbage. I get to have my son with me every day and see him learn & mature.
And, just as icing on the cake, I have a great job! I get to live AND work in this same great location. I don't have to commute. I am privlidged to share and show God's country with visitor's and employees. I can ride every day if I want to. I have great employer's who have provided a beautiful house.
Thank-you God for this incredible blessing you've given me. Peace, beauty and love... that is my life.
